Borrowing from Other Maine Libraries

Our patrons may borrow books from many other libraries in Maine through Bangor Public Library’s reciprocal borrowing agreement.

Click here for a list of participating libraries.

How it works:

  • Stop by the Jackson Memorial Library to fill out a short application form for a Bangor Library Card. You don’t need to bring any paperwork with you.

  • We’ll give you your Bangor Library Card. It may take 1-2 weeks for it to begin to work, as we need to mail the card to Bangor for them to put you in the system.

  • Once you’re in the system, you may use your Bangor Library Card to check out books at any of the state’s participating libraries, including Camden Public Library, Thomaston Public Library, Rockland Public Library, and Portland Public Library, and many more.

  • Lose your Bangor Library card? Not to worry. Once you’re in the system, libraries should be able to pull your account you up with your name.
