Internet and Computer Use
Internet use at the Library is free and high speed WiFi is available. If others are waiting, please limit your use of the library's laptops to 30 minutes.
Patrons are expected to make appropriate use of the equipment and to show consideration for others. The use of this service is a privilege, and inappropriate use may result in forfeiture of the privilege.
The staff may provide limited assistance with basic computer navigation. The library computers do not have Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, etc.). However, the staff may be able to help you use the online equivalent, Google Docs. The library does not offer e-mail accounts though we are happy to help you set up your own email account.
More in-depth assistance is available during Tech Time, most Thursdays from 4:00-5:00pm (call ahead to make sure it’s on at (207) 372-8961).
Please check with the librarian before attempting to download anything to the computer. Software installations are generally not allowed, but may be granted by exception.
WARNING
The Library has no control over the information accessed through the Internet, and cannot be held responsible for the quality, accuracy, currency or appropriateness of any information found via the Internet.
ETHICAL USE
The Library computer and Internet access may be used for legal and ethical purposes only. Unacceptable use includes, but is not limited to: harassment of other users; tampering with or damaging the library data, software, or equipment; and unauthorized copying of copyright-protected or licensed material.
CHILDREN
Restriction of a child's access is the responsibility of his or her parent or guardian. Children 9 and under must be accompanied by an adult when using the computer.
PRINTING AND COPYING
Printer and copier access is available during regular library hours. The charge is $.20 per page black and white, $.50 per page color.
Documents may also be scanned and sent to email at no charge. However, the library’s technology for this is time-consuming, so we ask visitors to limit their scan-to-email requests to no more than 10 pages. Thanks for your understanding.
